Benefits that align with the identity of the organisation
Zinkunie has been a supplier of roofing and façade materials for over twenty years, supporting professionals with products, advice and service. Operating from multiple locations, the organisation serves customers in the Netherlands and beyond on a daily basis.
Zinkunie wanted to further strengthen its benefits package and ensure the communication around it aligned with its own identity. The organisation was looking for a way to present its benefits in a clear, recognisable and appealing manner.

From the very first contact, Paul took the time to get to know Zinkunie better by, among other things, visiting various locations. This enabled them to write a clear Benefits Statement in the language of our employees. Thanks to the extensive experience Not Secondary has gained across a wide range of companies, they are well positioned to advise on what sets different secondary benefits apart. In addition, they put forward creative and surprising new benefits to complete Zinkunie's package. In a nutshell, working with Not Secondary was an extremely pleasant experience, our wishes were listened to carefully, the secondary benefits were presented in a visually engaging format, and we received practical tips on how to communicate the Benefits Statement internally.
Challenge:Over the years, Zinkunie had added a growing number of benefits to its package. This created a need to make the full offering more transparent and accessible for both employees and job applicants.
In addition, Zinkunie wanted to explore how its benefits package could be further strengthened with distinctive benefits that align with the organisation and its employees.
The challenge therefore consisted of two parts:
- increasing the distinctive power of the benefits package;
- developing a way of communicating that connects better with the target audience than a traditional employee handbook.
Approach & advice:As a first step, we conducted an inventory of the existing benefits. The Metalektro collective labour agreement served as the foundation, supplemented by the benefits that Zinkunie had developed in-house over the years.
We then analysed the package and enriched it with benefits from our database that suit the organisation, the sector and Zinkunie's target audience.
To ensure that the Communication remained recognisable to employees, we chose not to present the benefits in a traditional way. Instead, the benefits were organised within pillars that directly connect to the world of Zinkunie:
- Dakbedekkingfinancial benefits;
- Aluminiumtime off and leave;
- Zinklearning and development;
- Koperculture, vitality and wellbeing.
This structure was then combined with Zinkunie's corporate identity and developed into a Benefits Statement that fully aligns with the organisation's identity.
Result:The result is a benefits package that has not only been strengthened in terms of content, but is also communicated in a recognisable and accessible way.
By presenting benefits in the language of the organisation and its employees, a communication tool has been created that can be used both internally and externally. Employees gain a clearer understanding of the value of their benefits, and job applicants immediately see what Zinkunie has to offer as an employer.
In addition, Zinkunie has received concrete advice on new benefits and practical guidance to further professionalise the communication of its benefits package.
The end result is a benefits story that is every bit as recognisable as the organisation itself.
