The question

Does your benefits package still fit the organisation you are today?

Benefits often grow organically over many years. New schemes are added, while others stay in place simply because they have always been there.

Meanwhile your organisation, your employees and the labour market keep changing.

That is why the Primary Approach does not look at one isolated scheme, but at the entire benefits package, from scratch.

When is the Primary Approach right for you?

Time to review the whole package again?

Recognise one of these? Then this is your starting point.

The package is dated

The benefits package has not been reviewed as a whole for some time.

The organisation has changed

The organisation, strategy or workforce looks different than it used to.

Coherence is missing

Over the years many separate schemes and exceptions have piled up.

A need to stand out

You want to use benefits more actively in the labour market.

Big choices ahead

Larger changes or strategic choices around benefits are on the agenda.

Still unsure?

In a half-hour introduction we can tell whether the Primary Approach fits — or whether a lighter scan makes more sense.

Process & timeline

What does a project look like?

Up front we agree on the scope, the stakeholders involved and the results you want. On that basis we build a concrete project plan.

6–12months indicative timeline

The exact timeline depends on things like the size of the organisation, the complexity of the package, employee participation and internal decision-making. How quickly your organisation supplies information and feedback can shorten it considerably.

Do you have a specific deadline or preferred timeline? Then we will look together at what is possible.

Indicative investment

What does a Primary Approach cost?

The investment depends on the size and complexity of the question and the support you want. After a first introduction we can quickly determine which approach fits your organisation and what it costs.

Frequently asked questions about Primary approach

The Primary Approach is for organisations that want to evaluate and develop their entire benefits package structurally. The Benefits Scan is more compact and aimed at quickly identifying the biggest opportunities.

No. We deliberately look at what works well and should stay in place. We only advise changing the package where change genuinely adds value.

Where relevant. That can be through surveys, interviews or focus groups, for example. Together we decide which form of employee participation fits the question at hand.

Yes. We combine our Benefits Database and benchmark information with market developments and our experience at other employers.

Yes. The works council plays an important role in many optimisation projects. Where possible we prefer to involve them at an early stage, so their input and support can be carried through the project. We advise on the right moment and the right way to involve them.

Yes. Optimising does not automatically mean spending more. We look at the balance between investment, impact and added value, and factor in cost wherever we can. Not every benefit can be given an unambiguous price, however, so a full financial calculation of the entire package is not possible in every case.

Yes. We guide the project from analysis and advice all the way through to the actual implementation and communication of the chosen changes. So it does not stop at advice: we help make the changes happen inside the organisation.

Total Benefits is the first Employee Benefits Intelligence Platform in the Netherlands. It helps organisations centralise, benchmark, manage and continuously optimise their employee benefits.

Unlike traditional HR software, Total Benefits is not focused on HR administration or payroll processing. Instead, it is designed to collect, enrich and apply knowledge, benchmark insights and practical expertise related to employee benefits.

At the core of the platform is Benefits Intelligence: the collection, enrichment and application of knowledge, benchmark information, market insights and technology related to employee benefits. This enables organisations to make better-informed decisions about their benefits strategy.

Within the platform you can combine, among other things:

  • the Benefits Database, containing more than 200 fully developed employee benefits, organised across 12 benefit themes;
  • benchmark information and practical market insights;
  • governance and compliance support;
  • optimisation workflows;
  • communication and implementation tools;
  • AI-powered support through the Benefits Assistant.

Total Benefits is not a one-time assessment or a standalone software tool. It is an intelligence platform that supports organisations in building, managing and continuously improving their employee benefits strategy.

As organisations continue to use the platform, they gain increasing insight into:

  • how their benefits compare with the market;
  • which benefits are most relevant to their workforce;
  • where optimisation opportunities exist;
  • which trends and developments are shaping the future of employee benefits.

The goal: helping organisations move from fragmented employee benefits towards better-informed decision-making and a future-proof benefits strategy.

The name Total Benefits is inspired by the well-known HR concept of Total Rewards: the complete value an employer offers employees, including compensation, benefits, development opportunities, company culture and the overall employee experience.

Since our platform focuses specifically on everything beyond base salary, we chose the name Total Benefits.

Within the platform, employee benefits are organised into 12 core benefit themes, including wellbeing, mobility, flexibility, sustainable employability and meaningful work. This creates greater structure, consistency and visibility across the entire employee benefits package.

Built on this central knowledge layer, organisations can not only manage their employee benefits, but also benchmark, optimise and make better-informed decisions for the future.

Benefits Intelligence is the process of collecting, enriching and applying knowledge, data and market insights related to employee benefits.

By combining consultancy expertise, benchmark information, practical market insights and technology, Total Benefits enables organisations to make better-informed decisions about their employee benefits strategy.

Benefits Intelligence forms the foundation of every capability within Total Benefits — from the Benefits Database and benchmark insights to governance, AI-powered assistance and future platform innovations.
