Optimising benefits without an extensive consultancy project

Channable develops software that enables webshops, brands, and online marketing agencies to efficiently manage their product data and online advertisements. As a fast-growing technology organization, Channable continually invests in a strong company culture and attractive employer brand.

To further strengthen this culture, Channable sought a specialist who could think along strategically at key moments about new benefits. This called for a flexible sparring partner who could advise on trends, developments, and concrete choices within the benefits package.

Optimising benefits without an extensive consultancy project
I'm glad we asked Paul to contribute his thinking to this large and important project. Their experience gives them an enormously broad range of possible benefits that you would never come up with on your own. From major benefits to smaller ones that are relatively low-cost for the employer, yet have an enormous positive impact. They have a thorough understanding of both the advantages and the challenges of potential new benefits, enabling you to make well-informed decisions. On top of that, the collaboration went very smoothly, and it was great that Not Secondary offers flexibility in its type of service.

Challenge:Channable has a strong company culture that employees are proud of. To further support this culture, the organisation wanted to explore how its benefits package could be strengthened.

Although a great deal of in-house knowledge was already available, there was a need for an independent sparring partner with specialist knowledge of secondary benefits. Not to go through a full advisory process, but to be able to test, challenge, and think along at key moments.

Approach & advice:For this challenge, we deployed our Benefits On Call service. This service gives an organisation access to specialist knowledge in the area of secondary benefits, without having to immediately embark on an extensive consultancy process.

During multiple brainstorming and sparring sessions, we worked together with Channable to examine the current benefits, the company culture, and the organisation's ambitions. In doing so, we explored various opportunities to further strengthen the package.

In addition to discussing existing ideas, we also introduced new benefits that align with the organisation's stage of growth. This involved looking not only at major and high-profile benefits, but also at relatively straightforward and affordable solutions that can have a positive impact on employee satisfaction and employer branding.

For each benefit, the advantages, points of attention, and potential risks were discussed, enabling Channable to make well-informed decisions.

Result:By deploying Benefits On Call, Channable gained access to specialist knowledge and benchmark information in the area of secondary benefits, precisely at the moments when this was needed.

The sessions led to new insights, concrete ideas for improvement, and a clearer picture of which benefits align with the organisation's culture, stage of growth, and ambitions.

Thanks to Benefits On Call, Channable now has a dedicated sparring partner for strategic benefits questions. This enables the organisation to respond quickly to new developments without having to immediately embark on an extensive consultancy process.

Total Benefits is the first Employee Benefits Intelligence Platform in the Netherlands. It helps organisations centralise, benchmark, manage and continuously optimise their employee benefits.

Unlike traditional HR software, Total Benefits is not focused on HR administration or payroll processing. Instead, it is designed to collect, enrich and apply knowledge, benchmark insights and practical expertise related to employee benefits.

At the core of the platform is Benefits Intelligence: the collection, enrichment and application of knowledge, benchmark information, market insights and technology related to employee benefits. This enables organisations to make better-informed decisions about their benefits strategy.

Within the platform you can combine, among other things:

  • the Benefits Database, containing more than 200 fully developed employee benefits, organised across 12 benefit themes;
  • benchmark information and practical market insights;
  • governance and compliance support;
  • optimisation workflows;
  • communication and implementation tools;
  • AI-powered support through the Benefits Assistant.

Total Benefits is not a one-time assessment or a standalone software tool. It is an intelligence platform that supports organisations in building, managing and continuously improving their employee benefits strategy.

As organisations continue to use the platform, they gain increasing insight into:

  • how their benefits compare with the market;
  • which benefits are most relevant to their workforce;
  • where optimisation opportunities exist;
  • which trends and developments are shaping the future of employee benefits.

The goal: helping organisations move from fragmented employee benefits towards better-informed decision-making and a future-proof benefits strategy.

The name Total Benefits is inspired by the well-known HR concept of Total Rewards: the complete value an employer offers employees, including compensation, benefits, development opportunities, company culture and the overall employee experience.

Since our platform focuses specifically on everything beyond base salary, we chose the name Total Benefits.

Within the platform, employee benefits are organised into 12 core benefit themes, including wellbeing, mobility, flexibility, sustainable employability and meaningful work. This creates greater structure, consistency and visibility across the entire employee benefits package.

Built on this central knowledge layer, organisations can not only manage their employee benefits, but also benchmark, optimise and make better-informed decisions for the future.

Benefits Intelligence is the process of collecting, enriching and applying knowledge, data and market insights related to employee benefits.

By combining consultancy expertise, benchmark information, practical market insights and technology, Total Benefits enables organisations to make better-informed decisions about their employee benefits strategy.

Benefits Intelligence forms the foundation of every capability within Total Benefits — from the Benefits Database and benchmark insights to governance, AI-powered assistance and future platform innovations.
