From complex regulations to understandable benefits
Through our network we came into contact with Not Secondary, who provided us with excellent support. Together with them, we developed a new benefits document and a so-called benefits statement, giving both current and prospective new colleagues a clear and concise overview of everything we offer. An external perspective was invaluable in this process and also held up a mirror to us. An added advantage was that Not Secondary had all the necessary expertise in-house, HR experience, marketing experience, and legal knowledge, all of which are crucial in this type of communication. Paul's flexibility and accessibility were also greatly appreciated. We are very satisfied with the end result and would highly recommend Not Secondary as a collaborative partner.

Challenge: Capgemini wanted to gain insight into the extent to which its existing benefits package was still sufficiently distinctive in light of developments in the labour market and the needs of its employees.

In addition, there had long been a desire to rewrite the benefits document. Over the years, various schemes had been added to the package, making it increasingly difficult for employees to find, understand and make the most of their benefits.

The challenge therefore consisted of two components: reviewing and optimising the benefits package, and improving the Communication around benefits.

Approach & advice:To gain insight into the strength of the existing package, we conducted a Benefits Scan.

In doing so, we analysed the benefits, benchmarked them against market developments and assessed their distinctive value. Particular attention was paid to themes that are becoming increasingly important in the labour market, such as flexibility in benefits, vitality, distinctive leave schemes and green benefits.

Alongside the substantive analysis, we also took a close look at the Communication around benefits. The existing benefits document was completely rewritten with the goal of making complex information more understandable, accessible and inclusive.

In addition, we developed a Benefits Statement that gives employees and applicants an at-a-glance overview of the key benefits and the total value of the package.

By combining benefits expertise, Communication skills and legal knowledge, an integrated approach emerged in which both the content and the Communication of the package were improved.

Result:The result is a benefits package that has been critically reviewed against market developments and employee needs, combined with significantly improved Communication of the benefits.

Employees now have access to clear and accessible information about their benefits, while applicants can more quickly gain insight into the value of the total package. In addition, Capgemini has gained concrete insights into possible Optimisation opportunities and future developments within its benefits policy.

By combining substantive expertise, Communication and legal knowledge, Capgemini has laid a solid foundation for both further developing and increasing the visibility of its benefits.

Total Benefits is the first Employee Benefits Intelligence Platform in the Netherlands. It helps organisations centralise, benchmark, manage and continuously optimise their employee benefits.

Unlike traditional HR software, Total Benefits is not focused on HR administration or payroll processing. Instead, it is designed to collect, enrich and apply knowledge, benchmark insights and practical expertise related to employee benefits.

At the core of the platform is Benefits Intelligence: the collection, enrichment and application of knowledge, benchmark information, market insights and technology related to employee benefits. This enables organisations to make better-informed decisions about their benefits strategy.

Within the platform you can combine, among other things:

  • the Benefits Database, containing more than 200 fully developed employee benefits, organised across 12 benefit themes;
  • benchmark information and practical market insights;
  • governance and compliance support;
  • optimisation workflows;
  • communication and implementation tools;
  • AI-powered support through the Benefits Assistant.

Total Benefits is not a one-time assessment or a standalone software tool. It is an intelligence platform that supports organisations in building, managing and continuously improving their employee benefits strategy.

As organisations continue to use the platform, they gain increasing insight into:

  • how their benefits compare with the market;
  • which benefits are most relevant to their workforce;
  • where optimisation opportunities exist;
  • which trends and developments are shaping the future of employee benefits.

The goal: helping organisations move from fragmented employee benefits towards better-informed decision-making and a future-proof benefits strategy.

The name Total Benefits is inspired by the well-known HR concept of Total Rewards: the complete value an employer offers employees, including compensation, benefits, development opportunities, company culture and the overall employee experience.

Since our platform focuses specifically on everything beyond base salary, we chose the name Total Benefits.

Within the platform, employee benefits are organised into 12 core benefit themes, including wellbeing, mobility, flexibility, sustainable employability and meaningful work. This creates greater structure, consistency and visibility across the entire employee benefits package.

Built on this central knowledge layer, organisations can not only manage their employee benefits, but also benchmark, optimise and make better-informed decisions for the future.

Benefits Intelligence is the process of collecting, enriching and applying knowledge, data and market insights related to employee benefits.

By combining consultancy expertise, benchmark information, practical market insights and technology, Total Benefits enables organisations to make better-informed decisions about their employee benefits strategy.

Benefits Intelligence forms the foundation of every capability within Total Benefits — from the Benefits Database and benchmark insights to governance, AI-powered assistance and future platform innovations.
